The Great Whitchurch Scarecrow Trail took place over August Bank Holiday weekend. Local people were invited down into the Whitchurch town to collect a map, explore the town spotting all the different scarecrows, that local families and businesses had made. Over 100 scarecrows were dotted around Whitchurch for people to discover and enjoy over the bank holiday weekend, The event was free as part of Whitchurch Community Live events.
The events team said, The great Whitchurch scarecrow trail has been fantastic, fun filled family event. Over 100 households have enjoyed creating their own scarecrows and its been lovely to see the whole town getting involved and enjoying the trail walks. We’ve also raisied a good amount for the Furlock Holmes charity who have had open days all weekend for the kids to enjoy. Whitchurch at its best.

Keith Hosey said, “My family moved to Whitchurch about a year and half ago and we have loved being her since, this weekend has given us a chance to explore the town with so many scarecrows to find we have truly enjoyed being out on the walks see the amazing scarecrow people have made and we look forward to next year making our own, we have realised what a great community we live in“
John Buckley said , “Its a lovely event that brings families together with creativity, practical activity, tradition and community involvement all with an opportunity to explore our wonderful town raise funds for a good cause and to meet other people.”

The looks on the kids (and big kids) faces discovering the different scarecrows has been so warming to see. A fabulous way to spend the bank holiday getting people young and old out and about”

A huge thank you must go to the incredible Amanda, Marcus and Bish from the Whitchurch Community Live Events team who have given up so much time and put so much effort into the Scarecrow Trail and for choosing our charity to support – we are so very grateful!Thank you also to all the people who made scarecrows (over 100 scarecrows is a fantastic turnout) and to those who took part in the trail! The creativity and effort put in was amazing and it was so lovely to see so many happy faces discovering scarecrows! Another thank you must, of course, go to the amazing Furlock Holmes volunteer team. From as young as just 10 years old, our volunteers worked so hard for this event and I am so proud of them all! Thank you to you all! We had a fantastic weekend and met some lovely new faces. We simply can’t believe how generous everyone has been with their donations and we (and all the animals) are so eternally grateful!
