It has been a successful April for Andover’s Fighting Falcons as they won a tally of medals at various events including at a qualifying tournament for a world championship.
Sunday 14th April saw Team Falcons travel to Birmingham for the 2013 English National Championships. A day of mixed results with the Team bringing home a total of eight medals from the 11 fighters that travelled.
The following week (Sunday 21st April) the team travelled to London to compete at the WKU Southern Open. The event is a qualifying tournament for the 2013 WKU World Championships being held in Crete in October this year. Last year the Fighting Falcons had 11 fighters qualify for the worlds this year they went one better with 12.
For many of these fighters this will be their first chance at international honours and the club is now actively looking to raise funds to help with the financial costs of competing abroad.
Finally, Sunday 28th April saw a reduced team travel up to Birmingham for the CIMAC British Open. Four fighters travelled up and another good performance by all four fighters saw four medals coming back to Andover including gold for both Stevie Parker and Tom Lucas which puts them top of WAKO’s Super League in their respective divisions.
