Rockella: A Heartfelt Tribute and Resounding Success

On the 23rd of September, music enthusiasts and festival-goers gathered at The Rockhouse for an unforgettable day of music, camaraderie, and heartfelt tributes at Rockella. This all-day music festival, featuring two captivating stages, celebrated the memory of two beloved local figures while also raising funds for the Abel Foundation.

Event organiser Andrew Hunt said “What an amazing day of brilliant music all for a great cause. The event was a huge success. Thank you to all the acts that played and to everyone that came throughout the day. Plus thank you to all the sponsors that helped ensure that this day would be a great success”

The main stage, lovingly named the “Uncle Mac stage” in honour of the late Uncle Mac, was a fitting tribute to a cherished member of the community who had sadly passed away. The stage not only showcased an array of sensational bands but also served as a platform for Uncle Mac’s partner, Bev, to deliver a heart-warming tribute in his memory. Bev’s touching words resonated with the audience, and her presence added a deeply personal and emotional touch to the event.

Throughout the day, the Uncle Mac stage was graced by a line-up of incredible bands that kept the energy levels soaring. The crescendo of the evening was reached with the performance of the immensely popular and talented Bloodhounds, who delivered an unforgettable set. As the final notes echoed through the crowd, there was a sense of unity and celebration, knowing that this was their last gig together.

But Rockella wasn’t just about the electric performances on the main stage. Outside, an acoustic stage paid homage to another local legend, Trevor Bambridge, who had also left an indelible mark on the Andover music scene before his untimely passing. The stage, fittingly named after Trevor, showcased numerous talented acts, each pouring their hearts and melodies into the atmosphere.

One of the most touching moments of the event came when Trevor Bambridge’s sons, who were in attendance expressed their feelings. Overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and love for their late father, they expressed their gratitude to the community that had embraced their dad’s passion for music. It was a poignant reminder of the lasting impact that local musicians can have on their hometown and the people within it.

More than just a celebration of music and local talent, Rockella had a noble cause at its heart. All profits from the event were dedicated to the Abel Foundation, an organization committed to making a positive impact in the community. While the exact amount raised was yet to be disclosed at the time of writing, the festival-goers and organizers were confident that it would be a substantial contribution to a worthy cause.

Rockella was a remarkable event that blended music, community spirit, and heartfelt tributes. The Uncle Mac and Trevor Bambridge stages stood as symbols of remembrance and appreciation for two remarkable individuals, and the music that filled the air served as a testament to the vibrant music scene in Andover. As the community eagerly awaited news of the funds raised for the Abel Foundation, one thing was clear – Rockella had left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all who attended, reminding them of the power of music and the strength of community bonds.
