The new Picket Twenty sports centre and community centre should be ready early 2014 according to Persimmon, the developer at the site.

Persimmon have supplied a temporary building, where community development worker Sharon Goodridge has been offering information, supporting clubs and groups and ensuring transport plans meet local needs.

Rob Allen, sales director for Persimmon Homes South Coast, said: “The permanent community centre will provide a real focal point for local people and give Sharon an established base for neighbourhood activities.

He added: “The leisure and recreation amenities planned for Picket Twenty are a key factor in what makes this development special. Alongside the urban park and woodland areas, there will be a multi-use games area, football pitches, a cricket pitch, tennis courts and play spaces.

The new sports pavilion, with changing rooms, will enable residents to make full use of the leisure facilities provided, helping to ensure a healthy environment for all.
