Bus travellers in Andover are still having to put up with no shelters as they wait – 10 weeks after the Bus Station was closed for its £3.5m redevelopment.

Week commencing 13th May, two unused bus shelters in Andover were to be relocated to provide temporary bus stops in West Street. A new shelter was also to be ordered and be installed between the three temporary stops on Western Avenue this month.

Bus Stops - No Shelters

The pavement along Western Avenue is also being coated with droppings from the trees and birds. Presumably the cost of cleaning this – and the shelters when they are installed – will need to be added to the project.

The redevlopment is planned to last 52 weeks and is funded by Hampshire County Council in partnership with Test Valley Borough Council however with almost a fifth of the timescale gone already, shelters are still in short supply and very little work appears to have happened onsite.
