The Lights theatre celebrates 12 months of great shows!

A year on since the lifting of lockdown, The Lights has gone from strength to strength.

With over 40 shows & live events, a rebranding of their café “The Atrium Café”, as well as the reopening of various studio, rehearsal and business spaces within the building, Andover’s very own theatre has seen over 107,268 members of the public through their doors in the space of 12 months.

Prior to reopening on the 1st of September 2021, the venue was proud to be the local COVID Vaccination Centre, on behalf of the Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

The first show back was household name comedian Omid Djalili on 28 September 2021, and this was the perfect way for The Lights to welcome the public back safely to the theatre. More laughter, smiles, and plenty of dancing has continued since then in their auditorium and arena spaces.

Looking ahead; the theatre has booked in a packed programme of shows and and events for the rest of 2022 and beyond. With some exciting new additions to the programme, such as Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote, POP Princesses, The Elton John Show and Dreamcoat Stars as well as, perennial favourites including Vision of Elvis, One Night in Dublin, Christmas Memories and so many more.

The venue is a cultural hub of activity in Andover, attracting local audiences as well as those further afield into Hampshire.

With a year of great shows under its belt, The Lights is happy to see audiences rediscovering their love of theatre when welcoming old and new audiences through the doors. With many new homes being built in the town since the pandemic, more and more people are enjoying what the venue has to offer. With live music, theatre, dance, comedy, speakers and more… The Lights truly is the home of the arts in Andover in Hampshire.

The Lights team encourages new people to pop in and pick up a brochure, enjoy a coffee. Those who are looking for a sweet treat or a special deal in the weeks to come should keep an eye on the theatre’s social media pages. The new season is steaming ahead, and it will be worth keeping an eye on what The Lights has coming up.
