Andover’s new radio station is bringing Armed Forces Day back to the town. Andover Radio in conjunction with some top local businesses and organisations will bring the spectacular event to the town on Sunday June 25th.

The free event programme will feature displays like bridge building by the Royal Engineers, decommissioned weapons and vehicles and a whole variety of activities for families. Live music and stage events are also planned for the day as well as battle re-enactments.

Mo Sweeney from Andover Radio says, “As a military town, we’re over the moon to bring the event back to Andover after three years of absence. We ask local people to join the day’s celebrations to say thank you to the Armed Forces community including current personnel, reserves, veterans, cadets and their families”.

Tesco are supporting ‘Love Andover Armed Forces Day’ by offering up to £5,000 of funding as shoppers will be able to vote for the event by placing a token in collection points at participating stores. One token per transaction of any value will be given for shoppers who then chose to ‘vote’ for a worthy local cause.

Fairground attractions, food and drink stalls and a planned fly-past by the RAF are all part of the full day’s programme which will be officially announced in April.
