Appleshaw Fete set to entertain on Bank Holiday Monday

Appleshaw Fete Runners

The Worshipful the Mayor of Test Valley Councillor Carl Borg-Neal will open the Appleshaw Fete on Bank Holiday Monday 28 August 2017 at 12:30pm.

The Mayor will also start the 2nd running of the Appleshaw Fete Family Fun 5k & 10k Run at 1:05pm and will run the 5k course himself, joining the hundreds who are raising funds to support many local causes.

The Fete will run until 4:00pm with a BBQ and beer tent, speciality coffee, tea and cakes, PIMMs O’clock tent and ice-creams, all accompanied by live music, will ensure the whole family is well-fed and entertained.

The event will also be a chance to see:

    the Appleshaw Dog Show with Best in Breed and Fun Classes

  • the Mullenscote Dog Agility & Training Displays
  • exotic animal encounters, craft tents
  • children’s corner including Punch & Judy
  • bouncy castle
  • traditional games and activities
  • stalls such as bric-a-brac and books
  • tombola and raffle

Classic cars and even a helicopter are also expected!

The 86th Appleshaw Flower Show will open the doors to the Village Hall at 1:05, displaying all the entries to the 91 adult and children’s classes, covering fruit & veg, pot plants, cut flowers, arrangements & roses, cakes and home produce, and photography.

This year the special features in some classes are Sapphire or Blue to celebrate the Queen’s Sapphire Jubilee and commemoration of Jane Austen’s death 200 years ago.

Prizes and trophies will be presented at 3.15pm.

Free entry and free parking will be available in a large car park field adjacent to the Fete.
