Following a very successful best dressed Christmas window competition organised by the Andover BID and attracting 14 entrants from the town centre, the winning window this year was Bridge Street trader Mooch who scored highly against all categories and achieved an incredible 39 out of 40 in the ‘wow factor’ category and therefore wins a £200 cash prize to donate to a local charity of their choice and donated by Andover BID, The Lifestyle Card and Love Andover.

Mooch will also receive a winner’s certificate and a small personal prize from the BID. The 14 entrants were all visited on Saturday morning by the 4 strong judging panel who carefully assessed a score out of 10 for each of four component categories enabling a fair way of the contest being assessed. The score sheets were handed in for assessment and verification. BID arranged and facilitated the contest but was not part of the assessment panel.

Judging panel was Cllr North, leader of TVBC, Sean Caruana, director of The Lifestyle Card, Ben Tuffin, director of Love Andover and Cllr Iris Anderson, St Mary’s ward. The overall standard of all entries was exceptionally high this year, so BID has decided to award a second prize certificate to runners up C&M DIY, particularly for effort and the use of lighting, and a third prize certificate to The Travelling Cupcake for their inventive use of materials.

Well done to all winners and particularly to Georgina Roberts and the team at Mooch for an outstanding entry. Andover Town Centre has independent traders that we can all be proud of.

Georgina says “I am delighted to have again won this great competition. My team and I put a great deal of effort into ensuring our shop window always looks good and our customers regularly comment on it. This year has been tough for all local traders and I would like to say a big thank to our customers for supporting us and shopping local this Christmas”
