Hampshire Fire and Rescue crews attended a roof fire at a Grade 2 listed property in Appleshaw Road, Appleshaw area after being alerted at 9:33am this morning (Sunday 24th March).

Hampshire Fire and Rescue initially sent two fire appliances along with support crews however this was increased to eight pumps plus the ALP, the MRV and a water carrier.

Up to 60 firefighters from Andover, Whitchurch, Winchester and Sutton Scotney together with support from Wiltshire Fire and Rescue attended the fire which was in the roof of the period detached property.

Andover station manager, Mick Thompson said:

“HFRS is dealing with a fire at a Grade II* listed building in the village of Appleshaw near Andover. Fire has damaged a large part of the roof and the cause is under investigation.

We are currently being assisted by colleagues from Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and up to 60 firefighters and four officers have been deployed”.

Update at 12:45pm

Hampshire Fire and Rescue say the roof is 100% destroyed with extensive water damage to ground and first floor. The cause is under investigation.
