Greenfield Pork from Anna Valley, Andover have won 2 of the 12 award categories at this years’ Great Hampshire Sausage & Pie Competition.
In addition to the category wins for “Traditional Pork Sausage” and “Speciality Pork Sausage” with their chilli and garlic, Martin Martindale was also awarded the title of Supreme Sausage Champion 2013.
The competition, organised by Hampshire Fare, was last run two years ago and this year attracted 170 entries across the 12 categories. After the awards, Mr Martindale was pleased with the result.
“We’re delighted to have won the title of Supreme Sausage Champion 2013! I’m pleased for my son Tom for winning the Speciality Pork Sausage category for his chilli and garlic sausage too. The competition is really important to us as it helps us to gain local recognition.”
“The feedback from the judges is really useful in helping us move forward and make our products even better. It’s a lot of work getting prepared for the competition but it’s worth it, I find it easiest to work on my entries at night when the business is closed. We’ll be celebrating tonight though!”
Both Greenfield Pork and Newlyns Farm were mentioned on the Radio 2 interview with Chris Evans – click here ( 4 minutes in).
