The Virgin London Marathon 2013 had a record 700,000 spectators line the streets as the event’s 36,000 runners set off from Blackheath on Sunday morning.

A 30 second silence was held before the start of the race and many runners wore black ribbons in honour of those that died and were injured at the Boston Marathon bombing.
