Support staff from Andover and District Mencap turn to the community for support

Andover and District Mencap manage two Complex supported living homes in Andover. The houses offer support to adults with learning disabilities to support, equip and empower them to live more independent lives. The support staff have got together to appeal for donations to purchase two laptops, one for each household.

Support worker Ginny Barnes, told Andover Radio, “Having the laptops would help the people we support and staff on a daily basis. The residents would be able to learn new skills, keep in touch with distance friends and families. Look up new recipes they may like to cook. There are many interactive games and puzzles that can help tremendously with their development skills.

For Staff this would help us with our daily routines around the homes which involve much needed records. Ordering urgent necessities for the people in our care and supporting them with their activities. The people we support are lovely and need our help. But we need your support to help us fulfil this wonderful life changing project.

“We are very thankful for any amount that you could donate to our Just Giving Fund. Thank you from all the Staff and residents at both of our Complex supported living houses.’

The support team are hoping to raise £750 to fund the cost of the 2 new laptops. To donate click here.
