Lying awake, thinking
No noise outside
But inside my head
Pounding
Thoughts that go on and on
Won’t go away
Like a dripping tap
Voices in my mind
All talking at once
I can’t understand what’s
being said
Everything’s in the distance
Unclear
Yet I can hear you
Gently calling my name
Your arms are outstretched
But my legs are like jelly
I’m rooted to the spot
Unable to move
I’m trying to reach you
To hold your hand
Because I feel safe when I’m with you
Nothing is as bad as it seems when
you’re there to protect me
And reassure me
I go over and over every word
you said to me today
Analysing them, did you mean them?
Words I never thought you’d say
Yet I’ve waited so long to hear
At last, after all this time
I feel there is a
Light at the end of the tunnel
Sunlight, blue sky, fluffy clouds
Idyllic days
And you are going to be there
To share them with me
To make our dreams come true
My mind is peaceful now
My head sorted
No more black clouds on the horizon
Just happy, happy thoughts
Of our future
Together.
