Andover cake maker Jan Cox thought she’d be eating cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner after a client cancelled their order at the last minute.
However, after finding out it was Andover Armed Forces Day, Jan decided to donate it to Blind Veterans UK.
The cake – in the shape of a Spitfire aircraft – went down a storm at the event raising over £100 for the charity with them raising a total of over £300 on the day.
Paula, who ran the stall, said: “On behalf of Blind Veterans UK I cannot say how grateful they & we are for the support you showed us with your cake.”
Jan was pleased the cake was put to good use, saying: “After the order was cancelled I had no option other than to try and give / sell it to someone and, thankfully, Nikki contacted me.”
“I only make cakes as a hobby as I have a full time job and for me it’s all about making people happy so said you are more than welcome to have the cake. It’s clearly going to a great cause.”
