The Oak at Smannell near Andover won Silver at the Perfect Pint Awards matching their achievement in 2011 when they also came second. The awards are run amongst 200+ Wadworth’s tenanted pubs.
Tom from the Oak said: “All Wadworth Ales were tested for taste, clarity and temperature plus there are also general tests with regard to cellar management and hygiene. This extends to the how clean the glasses, ice machine and glass washer are.”
Established in 1885 by Henry Wadworth, Wadworth Brewery is one of few remaining producers to sell beer locally in oak casks; the brewery still employs a cooper.
Its very traditional with its own dray horses, producing up to 2,000 barrels a week to supply a wide-ranging free trade, around 300 outlets in the south of England, as well as its own 255 pubs.
