I put on this mask,
a chrysalis of my life beyond skin.
This skin which so easily breaks and evaporates into nothingness
leaving behind the memories given freely
to people I know and have known.
Throughout my life I have worn many masks,
this one is the last I will ever wear
I will wear it with dignity and pride
and I will not hide it away.
Anybody can see it if they so wish,
for a face itself tells a story
the angles, the contours, the wrinkles and the expression.
Know that I have left you something to remember me by
but remember that it is the next life where I can be found
and in time you will leave behind your life
for the life beyond skin
and we will walk again together.
